Переглядів 4,1 тис.Рік тому
The Bordeaux 2022 is an amplifier vintage, throwing into relief terroirs, styles, and above all choices. The result, in the best hand, are profound wines, some of the most exiting for several decades; but it isn’t a homogenous vintage that pardoned mistakes or missteps. What Herbicides do to Vineyards... A Brief Explanation by William Kelley
Переглядів 989Рік тому
Herbicides were widely adopted by wine growers in the mid-20th century, and by the 1980s over half of French vineyards were managed this way. Today, they’re on the way out; but what do they actually do to soils and vines, and how does that effect the resulting fruit? It’s not very glamorous or pretty but it remains a pertinent question, and in this video William Kelley offers some brief thought...

From a tiny 0.15-hectare parcel on the southern extremity of Gevrey’s smallest grand cru comes, in abundant years, two barrels of one of contemporary Burgundy’s greatest wines: Domaine Claude Dugat’s Griotte-Chambertin. It’s so rare that we never thought we’d be able to do a vertical tasting! More info on: www.robertparker.com

Overrated ,overpriced, not for the 99,9% of the people.
Guy reminds me of a non-evil elon musk.
Took a punt in 1977 at London's Pomegranates restaurant ( now alas closed ) with a bottle of 68 Latour and despite 68 being a shocker of a year in Bordeaux the wine was elegant and rewarding.
Thank you for the fabulous videos! Would love for William to review Olivier Horiot Champagnes, particularly the spectacular Solera that imho is up there with Prevost and Collin and makers of that level.
Amazing to see this a few years ago. We toured this site with Manu this year and the vines are planted, walls rebuilt and the site is headed to it's first year of growth. Standing with Manu above Les Genievrieres, the site his parents recovered and replanted starting in 1978, he told us about the parcel and the family project. ua-cam.com/video/rFmLcJQ2DmY/v-deo.htmlsi=3b_skptfRfA9AMZB
Guys $20 gets you a case of Corona and Burger Best Combo ever
One of the best wine producers in Tuscany. I have nothing but respect for this gentleman.
Great simple report
The dishwasher aspect is why I love the Contorno Sensory glass
Thank you sir.
DRC and Petrus never deliver. Always excuses are made.
where's the guru himself?
And today is everyhere in France ! Its a révolution 🙏🏻
A 1 Year old had a taste of wine 😮 ?
'promo sm'
perfectly explained in a way anybody could understand
Cannot believe this video is presented on WA channel...
Saw this video the other day ua-cam.com/video/MT3zc7txld8/v-deo.html thought I would try it out and wow what a beautiful wine. Now searching more out to try. Merci.
What's wrong with a little sediment!?
Bitter.
Robert, You are so far off it’s not funny…
How do you become this smug?
Would you ever use a Stemless glass?
Como el pintor Carriles
When is the recording of this being released?
Was this event recorded?
Love the Champoux and Ciel Du Cheval blends. Some really great Bordeaux Blends come out of Washington State a lot of times at 1/3 the cost of a Napa bottle 🍷
I rather spend my money on cheaper wine that tastes far better than this overhyped wine
And have money left for some food
Thanks for sharing. Nobody cares.
@jdub1121 we all care so jog on, james. Nobody has ever liked you anyways.
Have any attendees put their tasting notes on cellartracker yet?
I am not an expert in wine or anything else, but I know how to listen and judge the speaker’s level of knowledge: the speaker here is a genius! The last time I listened to this level of total grasp of the subject was in the 80’s listening to Noam Chomsky! Pauseless flow of pure genius! Immense memory for detail! I am just overwhelmed! This is spectacular!
Incredible video Mr. Kelley!
This wine is beyond special
Hahaha, sounds like someone is playing in the background 😁😁😁 By the way, I have been wanting a bottle from this vineyard since I was a teenager. (: First heard about this from the Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
A wine I must find and try!! 🙏
Terrible video quality promoting another outstanding vintage with outstandingly high prices Not even close to the 09’s and compared to these prices they were a bargain 😂 EP flop from greedy Chateaus.
Thanks for this!
This is a cellar I'd love to visit!!
Unusual aspect ratio, moving lens, terrible angle. My phone camera does better than this. Wine Advocate and the Robert Parker name deserves better than this.
Beyond informative… Thanks William
An excellent summation of how a viticultural practice can directly affect wine quality. Most definitely not a perspective often enough discussed. Thanks!
The description of 2021 red wines reminds me foremost of 2007.
Why are your videos so difficult to hear? Please fix you mic!
Audio is problematic….
true.... some kids as well...
very satisfiying creation
OMG, I have a Durand and I have been using mine all wrong! Hahaha, thanks William, just sacrificed a bottle of Spain pizza Rioja for science and tried opening it your way! This is a MUCH better method than what I did before!
Thought provoking.
Great insight, thanks William! You speak a bit blurred so I had to churn up the volume to max to understand you fully. I can't wait for the next instance of "Up from the cellar", I drink a lot of old wine, so I LOVE those tasting notes.
Very good. Thanks for the rationale. Wisdom Hath Builded Her House. I drink what I consider expensive wines but will never drink some of the wines you drink. Envious. Petrus, Romanie Conti, I’ll never drink because it’s unaffordable for me. I’ll drink Rothschild, Margaux, Mouton, Haut Brion…but never the above $1500 range. I envy you and you are super knowledgeable. Keep up the good work.
Your microphone is on wrong
Love Steve Kistler’s wines. Perfect balance and structure, with amazing concentration. Cheers 🥂
It's not easy, for someone do not like red wine and other person don't like Chardonnay and i don't like pinot noir. I Only like blend of Chardonnay 45 is mixed 55 Pinot Noir makes Champagne Prestige cuveee of grapes.
